Who are community health workers (CHWs) and what do they do?

Community health workers (CHWs) are valued and trusted members of the community, who…

  • have sufficient knowledge of their clients’ personal background, languages, socioeconomic status, and life experiences,

  • provide health related education, social support, and recommendations,

  • connect individuals with health care and social services, and

  • serve as the bridge between the communities and health care providers.

What can this training program offer community health workers (CHWs)?

Through this CFH training program, CHWs can…

  • help reduce cancer rates among their clients and underserved populations,

  • increase awareness in cancer genetic testing,

  • use CFH to engage in personalized cancer prevention activities, and

  • enhance healthy lifestyles in the community.

In addition, Texas certified CHWs will receive 6 state-certified CEUs after the completion of the CFH training!
